Edgewood Choraliers were celebrated at last night’s Board of Education meeting for winning the grand prize in the first annual Middletown Holiday Who-pla. The Board and community members were entertained as the Choraliers performed a segment of their competition show for the crowd. Included is the schedule for their competition season. Superintendent Appointment Edgewood City School District is proud to announce the appointment of its new superintendent, Kelly Spivey. Last evening Edgewood Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint Kelly Spivey to a more permanent role at Edgewood as superintendent. Kelly has been serving the district as interim superintendent since the retirement of former Superintendent Russ Fussnecker. During her short tenure here as interim superintendent, Kelly Spivey has shown her passion for our students and the quality of education that they receive. Having lived in Butler County most of her life, Kelly understands the needs of our families and community and advocates for what is best for all students. The Edgewood City School District Board felt it was important to provide stability to our district during this time of transition. We have had many personnel changes and retirements, and we need to provide a strong leader going into our levy campaign. We have tremendous confidence that Kelly Spivey is that person.

The SWOC Swimming Championship occurred this past Saturday at Miami University and several swimmers earned honors including: Julianne Hobson – 2nd place 200 Free - 2nd place 100 Butterfly Wyatt Phillips – 2nd place 100 Backstroke (New school record) Maggie Thornsberry – 3rd place 100 Free Kurt Browning – 3rd place 100 Free Men’s 200 Free Relay – 3rd place Kurt Browning, Lucas Haag, Yury Bair, Wyatt Phillips (New school record) Men’s 400 Free Relay – 3rd place Kurt Browning, Yury Bair, Lucas Haag, Wyatt Phillips (New school record) Several swimmers also had Personal Records for their efforts on Saturday. Congratulations to all members! Go Cougars!!

Edgewood City Schools will be CLOSED Wednesday, January 25, 2023, due to the winter storm warning and the severe nature of the approaching weather front. We are making the decision at this time as we wanted parents to have time to prepare. The safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.

Due to weather concerns, we are moving our girls' basketball game which was scheduled for Wed., January 25 to Tues., January 24 at the EMS New Gym (the boys' team has a league game on Tues. vs Talawanda at EHS). Game times are still 6 pm for JV and 7:30 for varsity.

Board Meeting Dates 2023: Meetings will take place at Edgewood High School inside the Heritage Room. Changes to location or dates will be communicated via our normal communication channels. The meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Immediately following the presentation(s), the board will move into executive sessions. Meeting Update: The Edgewood Board of Education will hold the annual Organizational Meeting for 2023 on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Edgewood High School, 3045 Busenbark Rd., Trenton, OH 45067. The annual Tax Budget Hearing will be held prior to the meeting at 5:45 p.m. in the same location.

The Edgewood Board of Education will be holding a planning meeting on Monday, January 9th, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Edgewood High School, 3440 Busenbark Rd., Trenton, Ohio. There will be no public participation and no business action will be taken.
