Property reappraisals and updates are occurring around the state. In Ohio, property taxes are calculated based on the assessed value of the property. Due to property value changes, Ohio has implemented a statutory process to reappraise property values every six years (sexennial reappraisal) and update property values in the third year after the reappraisal (triennial update).

Butler County is among the counties going through an update. The most recent update resulted in a median residential value increase of 37 percent. The Auditor multiplies the property’s taxable value by the total mill rate and divides by 1000. For taxation purposes, residents in Butler County are taxed on 35% of the real property’s appraised value. For example, a home valued at $100,000 will be taxed on $35,000. Given the unpredictable nature of the weather forecast for today, we want to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our students, staff, and attendees for our Homecoming events. As such, we will be canceling the Homecoming Parade tonight. We apologize for the cancellation. Due to the weather forecast, we feel it is necessary for the safety and enjoyment of those involved.
Please arrive early to the football game Friday evening to enjoy the Homecoming events. The class floats will be displayed between Busenbark and State Route 73 tomorrow evening. The Homecoming Court will be honored at the pep rally and before the game tomorrow night at 6:15 pm.

Edgewood Marching Cougars Successful at First Contest of the Season!
Congratulations to the Edgewood Marching Cougars who participated in their first competition of the season at the 46th annual Hamilton Band O’ Rama this past weekend. The band received 2nd place in Class A and received an “Excellent” rating. This year’s show theme is entitled “Atlantis.” A love story in Atlantis, the city underwater. We hope you can come out to a game or contest to see the band in action this season. Future contests are at Piqua on 10/14 and Turpin on 10/21.
