Edgewood Middle School

Nicole Condrey and Mike Dredge from Team Fastrax of Middletown (a Professional Skydiving Team), visited EMS to work with our 7th grade Community Service Club. They talked to the students about team building and the importance of working together. They also discussed how they honor military personnel and why it is important to their team. This was a great experience for our students to interact with these speakers and to reflect on their many accomplishments they made this year in the Community Service Club.

The Edgewood Middle School Fine Arts Team will be holding The 16th Annual Fine Arts Festival, May 4th from 6-8pm. The event will take place at the Edgewood Middle School Cougar Lobby and Auditorium. This is the culmination of our students' hard work this year and is a great event to showcase their talents. This year's event will include an art show, live sculpture, photo booths, face painting, choral and band performances. EMS Parents, Next week will be the start of our state testing at the middle school. The schedule for testing this year will be as follows: April 4-5 - English/Language Arts (All grade levels) April 25-26 - Math (All grade levels) April 27-28 - Science (8th grade only) Start and end times for each testing day will remain the same (7:15 am until 2:00 pm). Please make sure that students get plenty of sleep the night before each test day and eat breakfast in the morning. If your student would like to use headphones during the test we highly encourage them to bring their own. We will have some sets but not enough for each student. EMS Fine Arts Festival!!

Kona Ice will be at EMS on Thursday, March 23, weather permitting. Students who qualified for the quarter 3 Cougar Pride incentive will receive a ticket for a free small Kona Ice. Students who did not qualify for the Cougar Pride incentive may purchase Kona Ice for $3, $4, or $5. Students with a free Kona Ice can upgrade to medium for $1, or a large for $2. Student with Kona Ice cups may refill them for $3. Refillable cups may be purchased for $6.

EMS January Fundraiser products will arrive on Wednesday, February 15. If your student sold items for the Washington DC trip, those items will be need to be picked up after school on Wednesday.

Congratulations to the EMS 8th grade boys basketball team on their SWOC tournament championship. The team finished the SWOC season undefeated in league and tournament play.

EMS Washington DC Trip fundraiser

EMS students participate in a disease showcase through a partnership between Edgewood and Butler Tech. Students in the class, "Medical Detectives", learn and present about various diseases during the unit.

EMS second quarter conference night is Thursday, December 1! To schedule a conference: From the Edgewood Middle School home page, click on the "Students/Parents" button. EMS Eighth Grader visits Butler Tech. Eighth grade students from Edgewood Middle School spend the day visiting programs at Butler Tech. Butler Tech offers valuable career technology programs to students throughout the region.
