FFA 11/1

Members of the Edgewood/Butler Tech created a new after-school opportunity for middle school students this year called Growing Greenhands. Through the Growing Greenhands program, 7th and 8th grade students come to the high school once a month to learn about agriculture, participate in community service, and develop leadership skills. At the most recent event last Wednesday, nearly 60 middle school students attended to learn about the soil profile and soil textures. Then, FFA members led the participants through the process of making soil separation jars, performing soil ribbon tests, and making edible soil profiles. The Growing Greenhands program will continue throughout the school year to provide an opportunity for mentorship and an opportunity for middle school students to connect with high school students.
