Max Meyer and Cole Miller, juniors at Edgewood High School, entered the Jacobson Institute for Youth Entrepreneurship at the University of Iowa Innovator Competition earlier this spring.  These students were notified, by the competition judges, that their business has been selected as the 9th finalist out of 260 entries. Meyer and Miller’s business, Rod Bending Baits, received Honorable Mention and a total of $250 in the Innovator Competition. One of judges from the competition told the students, “Your business and all you have accomplished is very impressive. It is inspiring to have the opportunity to listen to young people who have already started a business and who are growing their business to the next stage.  And, doing all of this while in high school!"

The Jacobson Institute sponsors the Innovator Competition each fall and spring. This competition recognizes and rewards entrepreneurship efforts of high school innovators with financial support and feedback from successful entrepreneurs. The competition is for any high school student in grades 9-12. Students are not required to have a background or coursework in business to compete, just motivation, passion and a good idea.
