​Edgewood Primary School Families, It's time to celebrate! Over the last 3 weeks, we have been working hard learning and following the PBIS rules of being respectful, responsible, and safe. During the week of September 6th-10th, we will celebrate the students' hard work with a Spirit Week. We can't wait to celebrate with you! Tuesday PBIS Kick-Off - Wear your favorite jersey or sports team gear Wednesday-Wacky about "RESPECT"- Wear crazy hair and or crazy socks Thursday- SAFEty Hat-Wear your favorite hat Friday is RESPONSIBLE​ Disney Character Friday- Dress up as your favorite Disney character. (Please all extra accessories at home.)

Edgewood Primary School's Picture Day is scheduled for September 30th. We will send home fliers with your child closer to picture day.

Edgewood Primary School Families, Parents or guardians walking up to get students at dismissal will need to go to door 5 to show the pick-up tag to the staff at the door. Then will pick up their student at door 6. Doors are back by the gym. Remember cars cannot park in the front parking lot for walk-ups. Our busses will be parked at the main entrance. You may park in the back parking lot and walk around to door 5 to pick up students. No student will be dismissed from the main entrance. Dismissal begins at 3:40. Updated 2021-22 ECDS Academic Calendar

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) established a series of special education “indicators” to measure each school district’s services and results for students with disabilities. The Ohio Department of Education works with stakeholders to set annual targets – or goals – for how districts should perform on these indicators. Every year, districts receive a Special Education Profile that shows whether they are meeting their goals, over time, for students with disabilities. The design of the Special Education Profile helps districts use data about services and outcomes for students with disabilities to keep improving their special education programs. This data gives schools answers about kindergarten readiness, achievement levels, preparedness for life beyond high school, services for children with disabilities, and equitable outcomes. The primary basis of each district’s 2020-2021 Special Education Profile is the final special education program data that districts submitted through the state’s Education Management Information System (EMIS) for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years. The Special Education Profile also reflects a district’s performance on each indicator in the three previous years. Each year, districts and community schools in Ohio receive a rating evaluating the performance of special education programs, known as the Special Education Rating. The Ohio Department of Education calculates this rating using the final data submitted through the Education Management Information System (EMIS). The compilation of data results in one of four possible ratings: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention or Needs Substantial Intervention. Edgewood City’s 2021 Special Education Rating is Meets Requirements! Ratings Criteria: The 2021 rating assesses districts’ performance on the following measures / Compliance Indicators: - Discipline discrepancies by race (Indicator 4b); - Disproportionality in special education identification (Indicators 9 and 10); - Initial evaluation timelines (Indicator 11); - Early childhood transition (Indicator 12); - Secondary transition planning (Indicator 13); - Timely correction of noncompliance (Indicator 15); - Timely and accurate data reporting (Indicator 20); and - Special education audit findings. We are proud of our special education staff and students for their continued hard work!

Good luck to Edgewood graduate Zach Apple in the U.S. Olympic Trials Finals. Zach will be competing in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle events.

Edgewood Vaccine Clinic Update: The clinic will offer - Moderna, Pfizer and J&J. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Mask will be required upon entering the clinic. For more details please see the attached flyer.

Dear Parents, We are fast approaching the last day of school and would like to remind you to please pick up any medication that your child has been taking at school. It is our district’s policy that students may not transport medicine to and from school, and an adult must be responsible for the medication due to safety reasons. If you have already counted out the medications and know that there will be none left, you will not need to come to the clinic. Any medications left at school after May 28, 2021 will be destroyed and discarded. We thank you for your cooperation and support in this very important matter. You will find a medication permit for the 2021-2022 school year on our school district's website. This form must be completed each year for prescription and non-prescription medications by both parent and physician. The medication form can be found under the Administration tab and click on Health Services. REMINDERS FOR NEXT YEAR: All medications must be received in the school office directly from a parent or responsible adult; and controlled substances, such as Ritalin or Adderall, must be counted at school when designated staff receive the medication. The parent or adult should remain present to verify the “pill count.” All medications must be in the original container properly labeled with the student’s name. Please never send medications to school in envelopes, plastic baggies, back packs, or in your child’s pockets. These medications will not be given. A separate medication permit must be completed for each medication that the student will be taking signed by both the parent and physician. Please share a copy of Edgewood’s school medication permit with your child’s physician so that it will be on file for future use. Edgewood Board of Education will be having a Special Board meeting on Wednesday, April 21. The meeting will start at 4:30 PM and be held at the High School in room #127.  The meeting's purpose is to discuss the contracts for the Superintendent and Treasurer and other personnel matters.  The board will move into Executive Session immediately after the roll call.  No action will be taken.

Due to an anticipated larger crowd than normal, the Edgewood Board of Education meeting on April 26 has been moved to the Middle School Auditorium. The Board meeting will begin at 6 PM.  If you plan on attending, please continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols.
