Edgewood Families,

Trenton, Ohio — September 16, 2026 — Edgewood City Schools is proud to announce a positive step in its academic progress, receiving an overall rating of 3.5 stars on the latest state report card issued by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce. This reflects an increase from the district's 3-star rating last year and represents the district's first overall score increase since prior to COVID-19.

The state evaluates school districts across six core components. In this latest release, Edgewood improved its star rating in 3 of the 6 evaluated areas.

"This steady progress reflects the daily hard work and collaboration of our students, staff, and families," said Jeff Madden, Edgewood City Schools Superintendent. "Moving our overall rating to 3.5 stars and making progress across three specific component areas gives us a strong foundation to build on moving forward."

The state report card assesses districts in six specific categories: Achievement, Progress, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation Rate, and College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness. Edgewood's gains in three of these areas highlight the impact of updated instructional strategies and targeted support programs.

District leadership will continue using the state's detailed report card data to guide future improvements and ensure ongoing support for student growth in every building.  A full review of our district data will be shared with the Board of Education in October.
