Breakfast and Lunch

1/23/23

Dear EPS Parent/Guardians,

I want to make you of the Edgewood City School District's administrative guidelines regarding student lunch charges.

A student may charge a maximum of $15.00 for school meals.

After reaching -$15.00, the student will only be able to charge an alternative lunch consisting of a peanut butter or cheese sandwich, fruit, and milk.  A charge of $1.50 will be added to the student's account for the alternative lunch.  Students may not charge breakfast or purchase ala carte items until the student lunch charges are paid in full.

The food service department will be in communication with your student as their lunch account balance approaches zero.  Additionally, you will receive communication from the food service department when your student has reached a negative balance. Usually, this will come as an email from Ezpay. https://www.spsezpay.com

Unfortunately, we have allowed negative lunch balances to accumulate more than our guidelines permit, which requires immediate corrective action on our part to get the negative balances under control.  If your student has a lunch balance of -$15.00 or greater, you will receive communication from me in the coming days alerting you to the negative balance.  Starting on February 1, 2023, we will begin strictly enforcing the -$15.00 limit and only serving alternative lunches to those students above the charging limit.

If at anytime your financial situation changes throughout the year, you may apply for  free

  or reduced meals at https://www.lunchapplication.com/

As always, if you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly.  Thanks for your support in this important matter.

Sincerely,

Ms. Jenny Halsey
