Edgewood is very proud to announce that our Edgewood Elementary School has earned the Ohio Department of Education's Purple Star Award for 2020, an award that recognizes a commitment to honoring our veterans and military families. They were one of 95 recipients who earned this award this year in Ohio. In Butler County, only two schools were recognized, Edgewood Elementary and Talawanda High School. The Purple Star Award, for military-friendly schools, recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. EES will receive a special Purple Star recognition during the January Board Meeting.
The Purple Star Advisory Board, formed by the Ohio departments of Education, Higher Education, Veterans Services and the Adjutant General, helps decide a school’s eligibility for the award. A school will be honored with the Purple Star Award if it completes a list of required activities including providing a list of resources for military families. This list is posted on our district's website.
