Haylee Lakes, a 9th Grader at Edgewood High School, entered a SCOPE Scholastic Contest in May 2019, while attending her 8th Grade English in Mrs. Cynthia Yeckel’s class. Haylee and her classmates read the play “Fly Girl - The Amazing Story of Pilots in WWII”. After reading the play, Haylee learned about the contest offered by Scholastic SCOPE magazine. The contest challenged students to create a movie poster to promote the play. Taking inspiration from the text of the play, she created a movie poster. Her poster was selected as one of five winners from all the entries submitted throughout the United States. She recently received her award from SCOPE, a copy of Yankee Doodle Gals, by Amy Nathan. Congratulations Haylee, we are so proud of you!
