Anti Harassment- Policy 5517

It is the policy of the Edgewood Board of Education to maintain an education and work environment that is free from all forms of unlawful harassment.  See policy 5517

Student Directory Information- Policy 8330

Edgewood School District will provide upon request student directory information.  Directory information includes:  name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially-recognized activities and sports, height and weight, dates of attendance, date of graduation, and awards received.  Directory information shall not be provided to any for- profit organization. Parents or students who are 18 or older, may refuse to allow the Board to disclose any or all of such directory information upon written notification to the Board within 10 days after receipt of the Superintendent’s annual public notice.

The Board does not discriminate on the basis of Protected Classes in its employment policies and practices as they relate to students.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and Limited Use of Restraint and Seclusion-Ohio Revised Code 2919.22

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support is a school wide systematic approach to embed evidence-based practices and data driven decision making to improve school climate and culture in order to achieve improved academic and social outcomes  and increase learning for all students.  It encompasses a wide range of systemic and individualized positive strategies to reinforce desired behaviors, diminish recurrences of challenging behaviors and teach appropriate behavior to students.

 

Restraint or seclusion shall not occur except when there is an immediate risk of physical harm to the student or others.  Every use of restraint or seclusion shall be documented and reported to the building principal and/or the Director of Special Services.  

 
Notification of rights to inspect instructional materials- Policy 9130-form F2

The Board of Education created guidelines for the inspection of instructional materials,  textbooks, academic curriculum, and reading lists by the public.  To request a review of instructional materials, academic curriculum, reading lists or textbooks,  contact:

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act or the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment- Policy 8330F9

Any parent or student who believes that the School District has failed to comply with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act or the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment may file a complaint directly with the Family Policy Compliance Office, U.S.Department of Education, 400 Maryland Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C.  20202-8520.

 
Public Records-Policy 8310

The Superintendent shall provide for the inspection, reproduction, and release of public records in accordance with this policy and with the Public Records Law.

 
District Policy Prohibiting Harassment, intimidation, or bullying- Policy 5517.01

Harassment, intimidation, or bullying means either of the following:

Any intentional written, verbal, electronic, or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior both causes mental or physical harm to the other student-Ohio Revised Code 3313.666

A written summary of all incidents reported each semester during the school year will be posted on the district website as permitted by Ohio Revised Code 3319.321

During the spring semester 2017 there were 0 incidents of bullying reported.  All bullying incidents should be reported to the building principal or assistant principal.
