New Health Center to be Opened at EHS in August

The center will be located at Edgewood High School. “We are excited to offer these services to those who don’t have access to this type of care. The reason we have partnered with Primary Health Solutions is to create a healthy environment that will have a direct, positive impact on our student’s ability to learn. This ultimately aligns with our Strategic Plan”, said Russ Fussnecker.

Interact for Health presented Primary Health Solutions (PHS) with a $25,000 grant to support the planning process. Edgewood officials were there when the check was presented to PHS. The health center will be located in the high school. No additional expansion will be required to accommodate the center. The goal is to have the student-based health center operational by August of 2019.

Edgewood will be responsible for providing the space for the health center along with transportation to and from the center for students needing care but attend class in other schools within our district. Primary Health Solutions will cover 100% of the set up costs, maintaining the costs of the center along with the payroll for the medical staff. Interact for Health has partnered with PHS to establish school-based health centers in Hamilton, Fairfield and Middletown.

Marc Bellisario, CEO/President of PHS stated, “We’re very excited to have another opportunity to provide access to healthcare services for students and their families. By doing this, we are helping students be better prepared to learn - healthy and free from the distractions caused by dental pain or poor vision.”
