POLICIES & PROCEDURES
1.) The sports medicine staff at Edgewood High School is responsible for the prevention, recognition, assessment, and treatment of athletic injuries endured by athletes participating in Edgewood High School sports.
2.) All certified athletic trainers will comply with the laws and regulations that govern the practice of athletic training in the state of Ohio.
3.) Student athletes are advised to use the athletic training services when an injury has occurred. All injury assessments will be conducted under the guidelines of the protocols used by Oxford Physical Therapy Centers. Any non-emergency athletic injury will be referred to a physician within 10 days if the injury is not improving.
4.) Edgewood High School sports medicine department will only provide first aid and emergency care to visiting teams traveling without a certified athletic trainer or team physician. Return to play decisions will be the responsibility of the visiting athlete, coach, and parents.
5.) Athletic training services are available as follows:
a. Monday - Friday: after school hours
b. During all home events
c. During away varsity football games
6.) If at any time, a student athlete is under the care of a physician, he/she must return a physicians note to the athletic trainer and coach. No treatment will be given nor will the student athlete be able to return to participation without the proper documentation.
