From the Principal
August 6, 2009
I would like to welcome everyone back to the start of the 2009/2010 school year. I know that it seems like we just left for the summer but we start school in less than three weeks. In order to take some of the mystery out of the start of the school year we have included schedules for all sophomores, juniors and seniors. Incoming freshmen will pick up their schedules at the two-day orientation on August 13 (10:00 – 1:00) and August 14 (3:00 – 6:00). We have provided seniors a copy of their high school transcript.
We have mailed the schedules early in order to allow for students to make any necessary schedule changes prior to the first day. We do not change classes in order to move from one teacher to another teacher. We only allow schedule changes for students who wish to pick up or drop a course. Students can come to the office to look at their course options. In order to add or drop any class, there will be a schedule change form for the students to complete and leave with the Principal's secretary Mrs. Smith.
The first day of school will be on Friday, August 21. On Wednesday, August 19, we will host an open house from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. On that night, teachers will be in their rooms to meet students and parents. Students can try out their lockers, meet their friends and tour the building.
The starting time for the school day has been changed. Our new starting time is 7:35 (the previous start time was 7:30). The end of the day will be at 2:40 (previously 2:35). Students will be still allowed into the building at 7:00 am. When students arrive, they can report to either the gym or cafeteria. At 7:25, students will be permitted to go to their lockers and to their classrooms.
Parking pass applications are available in the office (7:30 am until 3:00 pm). The cost remains $30. All school fees must be paid in full. Students must complete the application form, the random drug testing authorization, provide a copy of their drivers license and proof of insurance.
The start of the school is a time for making a good impression and fresh start. Attire and accessories that are acceptable outside of the school setting may not be appropriate for school. Facial piercings (other than the ear), extreme hairstyles/colors, pants with unpatched holes and revealing clothing are not permitted. By making wise choices, we avoid those awkward situations and the possible consequences. Our cell phone policy has not changed. Cell phones must be placed in the students' lockers immediately upon their having access to their lockers.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at 867-7425 ext 2129.
Sincerely,
Bob Buchheim
