INJURY EVALUATION PROCESS
Here is a step by step explanation on what to do if your child becomes injured during their sport season or over the summer. By taking advantage of OPTC's services, your child will be seen by a physician and a treatment plan will be established within 24-48 hours following the injury.
The physicians that OPTC works with are sports medicine oriented and will make their best effort to return your son or daughter to their sport as soon as possible. Steve Channell highly recommends that parents use Kalette as a resource to coordinate your son or daughter's appointment if they require a physician or rehabilitation.
- If the injury occurs when Kalette is not present, please call your child's coach or contact Kalette directly at 937-673-8989. If the injury occurs after school while Kalette is on-site, she will contact you to plan out the proper medical referrals.
- Your child will then meet with Kalette to determine the severity of the injury and recommend the proper referral, if needed. Possible referrals include: doctor's appointments, injury screen at one of the OPTC locations, or Direct Access physical therapy (In the state of Ohio, a doctor's referral is not required for therapy. Therefore, Kalette can get your son or daughter a therapy appointment without having to first make an appointment with the doctor).
- Once Kalette has ruled a referral is needed for your son or daughter, she will make the necessary appointment with your assistance. Your son or daughter will then be sent home with an appointment slip stating the date, time, and location of their appointment.
- After your child has been referred, the proper treatment options will be recommended to you and your child.
