Information regarding Edgewood City School District closings or delays will be announced on the District's web site, on television stations WKRC, WCPO, WDTN and WLW and on radio stations WPFB (910 AM), WMOH (1450 AM), WHIO (1290 AM), WMUB (88.5 FM) and WLW (all Cincinnati stations) as soon as possible. When appropriate the District will also use their automated notification system which will call the homes of all parents.
If it is announced that the schools will be closed for the full day, all buildings and offices will be closed with the following employee responsibilities in effect:
- Principals are to check their buildings for students, staff or problems.
- First Shift Custodians are to report, check and secure their buildings.
- If roads are closed or driving emergencies exist, then these will take precedence over these responsibilities.
All building rentals and school activities will be cancelled on days when school has been closed due to weather conditions unless there is a special announcement to the contrary.
If there is a possibility that weather conditions will permit the clearing of roads, it will be announced that Plan B will be in effect. Under this plan schools will delay opening for one hour and all buses will run their normal routes one hour later.
- If Edgewood City School District schools operate on the normal schedule or Plan B and it is still impossible to travel certain roads, the children affected will not be counted absent.
- When Plan B is in operation, all employees are to report to work as soon as they can. Some students will arrive at the regular time and it is essential that staff be present to meet them.
- During Plan B operations, A.M. Kindergarten will be held.
If early dismissal is warranted due to bad weather, instructions will be received from the Central Office. Elementary and middle school principals must alert parents to the possibility of an early dismissal in order for parents to have a plan worked out with their child(ren) in the event the parents are not home. We do not want to have any child stranded or locked out during inclement weather conditions.
