The Edgewood Choir Boosters support and help enrich the vocal music department of Edgewood High School. Our primary focus is the competitive showchoir known as the "Choraliers". Under the direction of Sue Combs, assisted by Libby Wolfe and Ben Schneider, and the choreography of Chris Beiser, this group is made up of 48 singer/dancers, several volunteer student crew and combo members.
Over the years this showchoir has received "Grand Champion" and "People's Choice" awards and have consistently placed in top six at regional and state competitions. They have performed in venues such as "Walt Disney World" in Orlando, Florida and at the "Fame" competition held in Branson, Missouri. The Choraliers are known as the "Goodwill Ambassadors" for the Edgewood community where they perform frequently for various civic organizations.
Choraliers is an academic class along with being an extra curricular activity. Beginning in August with "camp", rehearsals begin. Once school resumes, these students meet daily in the classroom where they rehearse both vocal and choreography techniques and receive a grade for the class. Rehearsals are also frequently held evenings throughout the year to further develop vocal and dance skills. Members learn three separate shows which include a Competitive show, a Christmas show, and finish the year with our largest fundraiser, the annual Dinner Theatre show which includes solo performances by several members.
Competition season brings more frequent rehearsals and usually begins in January, running through March. During this time, students travel to compete at schools as far away as Charleston, West Virginia and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Members are required to purchase their costumes, pay travel expenses, and various miscellaneous expenses. The Choir Boosters and students hold several fundraisers to help offset these expenses. We appreciate our community for their continued support and would like to thank everyone who has supported Edgewood's award winning showchoir over the years.
